Driveway Security Gates

Driveway security gates are usually one of the last security devices installed for a home or business, but their impact and effectiveness should not be underestimated.

Make A Statement With Driveway Security Gates

Strong, imposing security gates make a statement about how seriously the home-owner takes their business or home security. In the eyes of a criminal they can communicate the impression that “this is a house that is well protected, and even if you can climb the gate, you’ll have a job running the gauntlet of other security measures that are active beyond this point”. Lets face it, if a driveway is this well protected, you’re typical criminal will start imagining what alarms, cameras and floodlights are around the property. Even the dumbest crook will reconsider your home as a target and move on for easier pickings somewhere else.

Intercom and Cameras Are Great Deterrents

The main deterrent to the driveway gate alarm system is not even the gate itself, it is the process a visitor has to engage in if they want to gain entry to the protected grounds. Once they spot the intercom and camera, they will immediately understand that they have to present themselves carefully if they want to even get a audience with the home-owner. If they are criminals they will not want a DVR camera pointing into their face and possibly recording their image; nor will they want their voice recorded on the intercom. The risks are too great, and only the most brazen will probably appear nervous even if they did engage with the technology. In my case, I feel like a criminal when I talk into one of these gate security systems, even though I often know the home-owner personally. Weird but true.

Installing Home Security Gates

You can go the DIY route with the home security gate instalment. It’s easy enough to go around bricks and mortar stores, or even find a gate online with most or all of the security gadgets you need. It’s a big job setting up gates and the other devices, and if you’re like me you’ll probably feel more comfortable letting a professional do the hard work for you. You don’t have to hire a security company that do this exclusively, you could have a chat with a local handyman about the installation, and if he/she can do it. This might save you some money, but to be honest I’d just hire professionals to do it. This will cost more but your home security is not something you want to gamble with, some things are worth spending that little bit extra on them.
